On October 6, two Korean outlets reported Hurom’s announcement that two packaging designs had received Red Dot awards in the 2026 Brands & Communication Design competition. Baby News described the concepts as “Eco Minimalism” and “Healthy Living Lifestyle”; Lawissue also relayed the company’s account. These are reports of a company announcement, not two independent tests of the packs. The useful procurement question is what a buyer can verify on a particular shipping configuration.
What the award does—and does not—establish
Red Dot’s own description places packaging design among the Brands & Communication Design categories and distinguishes its standard Red Dot distinction from Best of the Best and Grand Prix. We could not independently retrieve individual 2026 winner records for these two Hurom packs, their registered project titles, or their specific distinction. The winner search for “hurom” did not yield individual records for these two packaging entries in this check. Absence from that search is not proof the awards did not occur, but it is not primary confirmation either. Red Dot’s page also schedules the 2026 ceremony for November; as of October 7 it should not be described as a completed event. None of these design-award categories certifies a pack’s recycling yield or measured material savings.

Four documents to request before repeating an environmental claim
- SKU and version scope. Baby News attributes to Hurom the use of Eco Minimalism on H80 and H310 juicers and some blenders and choppers, while the second style covers tea makers and tabletop blenders. Ask which model, market, packaging revision and production lot actually use each design. A publicity image is not a bill of materials for every shipped unit.
- Component-by-component bill of materials. Request material and mass for the outer carton, inserts, protective elements, labels, coatings and sealing tape. The company’s “recyclable paper” description as reported by the outlet does not establish that every component is paper. Record which pieces can be separated and where each goes after use.
- A matched reduction baseline. Compare the whole pack’s mass and volume before and after the change for the same product and protection requirements, with revision dates and shipment counts. A quieter graphic layout is not itself a mass measurement. The reporting supplies no matched baseline or per-lot measurement, so no reduction percentage or achieved waste saving can responsibly be inferred.
- End-of-life and protective performance. Test sorting and repulping against the actual adhesives, coatings and mixed-material joints, and check protective performance under the relevant shock, compression and humidity conditions. Recycling routes depend on local collection and processing. A lighter pack that increases transit damage cannot be judged on material weight alone.

The actionable supplier question is: “For which model and lot is each component paper, and where are the baseline mass, transit-damage and repulping results?” The award reports are a design signal, not evidence of a validated recycling rate, carbon benefit or waste-reduction outcome. Do not substitute an invented number for the missing technical file or the institution’s project-specific winner page.
