Indian local outlets have reported the death of a worker at Kirti Kraft Paper Mill in the Muzaffarnagar area of Uttar Pradesh. Live Hindustan reported that a worker was caught in a machine, taken for treatment and pronounced dead, and that police began an investigation. A Dainik Bhaskar local report describes a paper-cutting belt. We extend our condolences to the worker’s family and colleagues. Rather than reconstruct the incident, this article separates reported facts from unverified operational consequences.
What is reported, and what is not established
- Death and inquiry: Reports describe one worker’s death at a paper mill in the Sikheda area, police attendance and a referral for post-mortem examination. A family’s allegation or concern is not an investigative finding.
- Time of incident: One Dainik Bhaskar article dated October 6 says approximately 3 a.m. local time on Tuesday, October 6. Another article from the same outlet and Live Hindustan’s October 7 article describe Monday evening, October 5. A report’s publication date must not be mistaken for an established incident time. The chronology and details require official clarification.
- Machine and cause: The cutting-belt description comes from the first Dainik Bhaskar article; the other two say only “machine.” These reports do not determine how any guard functioned, whether a rule was breached or who bears responsibility.
- Supply impact: The reviewed reports do not provide an official scope of line stoppage, product-specific shipment restrictions, restart timetable or customer delivery impact. An unknown is neither evidence of normal operations nor evidence of disruption.

Machine safety: questions before comparable work resumes
The following is general editorial guidance, not a description of the mill’s equipment, local legal obligations or actions taken there. Follow the qualified site safety team’s assessment and the procedures for the actual machine.
- Define the task: Distinguish normal cutting/conveying from clearing a jam, cleaning or maintenance; record a work ID and responsible person.
- Access and guarding: Assess access to infeed and discharge points, belts and roller nips; verify that fixed/interlocked guards and emergency stops are suitable for the actual task. An illustrated guard does not establish this mill’s compliance.
- Stop and isolate: For jam clearing or maintenance, follow the approved stop, energy isolation and lockout procedure, and verify stored energy before work. Do not substitute reaching into running equipment with a hand or tool.
- Authorize restart: Check that people are clear, guards are restored, test running is complete, and work authorization and handover are recorded. Hold comparable work if the risk remains unresolved.
Purchasing and sales: is a specific order actually exposed?
Keep the safety inquiry and delivery decision in separate records. First establish whether this particular mill actually manufactures your purchased grade or item. Do not assume all Indian kraft paper or packaging deliveries have changed.

- Order identity: Ask for evidence linking supplier, PO, item and specification to the actual manufacturing mill and allocated roll or lot. A relationship with a trader does not prove the reported mill made the goods.
- Stock versus shipment: Check allocated lot location, quality release, booked transport, dispatch record and ETA separately. Stock on hand does not mean an order has shipped.
- Change notice: If a stoppage or shipment restriction is officially confirmed, request the affected items, orders, period and next update time in writing. Validate any alternate mill or grade against specifications, converting performance and customer change approval separately.
- Current decision: Until mill linkage or order impact is established, mark the internal status “under verification.” Do not announce a confirmed shortage or customer delay.
This article is based on local reports reviewed on the morning of October 7, 2026 (KST). An official investigative outcome, equipment status and each customer’s delivery position require separate confirmation. Any later official update should revise the incident chronology and operating status independently.
