As of October 6, 2026, PAC Strapping Products has described a PSS733 configuration that places protective boards on pallet corners before applying a strap. The engineering question is not simply whether a strapper and angle board can be sold together. It is what must be confirmed before the strap cycle is allowed to start. The public evidence consists of the supplier’s description and a trade article reporting it, not production metrics from a named customer’s line.
Field problem
The announcement of automated feeding and strapping does not establish that a particular angle board and pallet will run reliably on a customer’s line. Purchasing, quality and engineering teams need to separate the design description from site acceptance evidence.
Evidence to check
PAC’s own announcement describes a PSS733 integrated with automatic corner-board applicators. Applicators place boards on vertical or horizontal edges of a palletized load before the machine tensions and seals the straps. The supplier says load-detection sensors trigger placement only when a pallet is present, while alignment sensors verify board position before strapping starts. This is the vendor’s described design sequence, not a released PLC wiring diagram or a verified field-interlock test.
PAC gives a vertical board applicator paired with a horizontal strapper, PSS733H, and a horizontal board applicator paired with a vertical strapper, PSS733V, as examples. The orientation of the board applicator must not be assumed to match the direction of the strap. The supplier also describes integration into automated conveyors and possible retrofitting, subject to a facility’s layout and space.

A “corner board” is not a qualified paper-angle specification
The source calls the component a corner board. The existing paper-angle basics guide covers material and specifications; this article addresses automated feeding and the strapping sequence. The announcement does not establish that the paper-angle material, length, leg width or thickness from any particular supplier will feed reliably or withstand strap compression on a given pallet. Nor do the two reviewed sources establish the board’s recycling acceptance or certification. A paper-angle supplier would first need to match the actual material specification, curvature, moisture condition, magazine feed orientation, friction and sensor-detectable placement for each pallet SKU.
Packaging Europe’s October 5 report relays the automated applicator, sensing and expected benefits. PAC’s original page was published September 22. The later report’s date is therefore not evidence of a newly commissioned customer installation or commercial operating milestone. Neither source provides independently measured throughput, defect rate, transit damage, strap tension or maintenance cost. Labor and damage reduction should be treated as anticipated supplier benefits.
Practical deliverable
The following is an editorial acceptance-test suggestion, not PAC’s published controller logic or a mandatory test method.
- Load present: Test empty and loaded pallets separately, logging correct and false detections. Repeat across actual pallet formats and load heights.
- Board positioned: Check through video and position records whether the feeder picked the actual board and placed it at the specified corner. A sensor signal does not by itself prove the board is straight and retained; the line needs an agreed exception response before strapping.
- Strap and seal: Verify that strapping begins only after the required placement check. Inspect crushed box edges and strap slip with the actual board and load; agree tension settings and tolerances against the packaging specification.
- Post-transit decision: Compare product damage, load shift and board loss after representative handling and transport. Compare throughput and material scrap with manual application only for matched SKUs, periods and work conditions.

Reasons to hold adoption
The public announcement establishes the offered configuration and its supplier-described sequence. Do not treat a particular paper-angle board’s feed compatibility or reduced shipping damage as an agreed purchasing condition until placement signals, strap tension and post-transit outcomes have been checked for the actual material and SKU.
