Operational problem
On November 2, Japan’s Rengo revised its first-half FY2027 consolidated forecast for April through September 2026. It raised projected operating profit from JPY 25.0 billion to JPY 33.369 billion, and sales from JPY 545.0 billion to JPY 554.141 billion. This is a forecast revision, not final reported results. Full-year guidance remained unchanged.
Evidence to check
The disclosure attributes the first-half increase to flexible-packaging price revisions and advance stocking of packaging material amid Middle East tensions. For the second half, Rengo expects recovered-paper, pulp and other input costs to rise more than initially assumed; it also cites continuing European automotive weakness. These uncertainties explain why the company held its full-year forecast. The filing does not provide a product-by-product price increase or customer-level contract revision.

Practical output
Buyers should compare flexible-film and converted products separately from paperboard and corrugated quotations. A price-change notice should identify the SKU, first affected delivery, base price, input and conversion costs, and contractual adjustment clause. A stronger first-half earnings forecast does not itself establish a Korean paper-packaging price increase or a particular supplier’s margin.

Hold conditions
Whether advance demand persists, how much higher input costs are passed through, and whether full-year results will be revised remain uncertain. Keep October’s paperboard price-revision announcement separate from this filing’s flexible-packaging-led forecast explanation.
